Understanding the urgency of human role to be played towards preservation of natural resources for prosperous life of future generations on the Earth, LPU’s NSS Volunteers under the aegis of Community Service Cell organized two-day “Earth Day Festival-2013.” It was held in collaboration with an international NGO ‘Earth Day Network’ (Washington DC USA). Earth Day Network works on environmental issues across the globe with over 22,000 partners. The chief guest of the day was LPU’s Director General Er HR Singla.
He delivered an inspiring message by inviting students to be great protectors of the earth: “We are bound together by an equal love for seas, mountains, fields, forests, air etc which chiefly compose this majestic Earth. All of these require great care, maintenance and attention. We should live in a great relationship with our planet ‘Earth’, as we are totally dependent on its resources for nourishment, shelter as well as wealth. Let us aspire to be protectors rather than destroyers of this earth. ”
On this occasion, activities included art show under the theme ‘Face of Climate Change, unraveling of Earth Symbol, tree plantation, Skit, Rally and Earth Day Symbol Creation by NSS Volunteers. Inspiring Seminars, Movie, Quiz, Dance by ABDC Dance Group and performances by Rooh Band of the University students added brilliance to the organization. The focus through these activities was to grasp how climate change has affected us and what human force is doing to be a great part of solution towards it.
As such, constituting schedule of the great celebration let LPU students awakened about their duties to mother Earth.

NSS units of S.R.F.College organized a seminar within the locality of Madda Gram Panchayat in Beldanga-I Block, Murshidabad, West Bengal on 15th of August, 2012 to disseminate the necessity of environmental protection for sustainability of our future lives. For this purpose, village dwellers were motivated by the volunteers on plantation of trees within the locality they reside. |

A two day EARTH Day celebration was concluded on 23 april 2013. Nss volunteers carried out activities like Awareness Rally, Plantation drive and later concluded the first day with forming of the Earth Symbol. Second day event with guest lecture by honorable Vice -chancellor of university,movie show, quiz contest and the later the event was concluded with the rock band show. The Earth day Network collaborated with the LPU-NSS. The event was huge sucessful. |

National Service Scheme unit of Industrial Training Institute Gadchiroli was organized a Tree Plantation Program in the village Mahadwadi Gram Panchayat Churchura Tah Distt Gadchiroli on 1st March 2013. Hon. K.D. Burade, Principal of I.T.I. Gadchiroli were the Chair person of this program. Hon. R.G. Allamwar, D.V.E.O. of gadchiroli District, Vice sarpanch Hon. Purushottamji Munghate, Upsarpanch of Gram Panchayat Chuchura, Hon. Hiramanji Barsagade, President of Tantamukti Samiti Mahadwadi, Hon. Rajendra Chudhari, Police patil were present. 50 plants were planted both sides of the road.

NSS volunteers organised a guest lecture on SAVE WATER Campaign later followed by visit to the water treatment plant of 5 MLD capacity. Volunteers learnt the basic method of extracting pure water from the waste one, how to conserve the water on domestic level, the different processes involved in the water treatment (commercial level) etc. The event was sucessful. |

I am native of Visnagar (Gujarat)India ,age 13 years,studying in std 7 at St.Joseph School ,Porbandar,Gujarat. I started plantation of Trees on occession of my Birth day celebration .I planted 12 plants of Ashoka trees at a land portion near Bhanvad,Dist.Jamnagar.i did this activity with my father in the year of 2012 on my B-day 8 oct.This year I will plant 13 plants at my Native city Visnagar. I am too much impressed by the message of our government to increase tree plantation.although I am not too much elder to promote this activity more largly but I hope my little efforts will sure support my country. Thanks. |
